Chelsea Football Club have agreed to a club-record £117 million deal for Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. Middlesbrough will keep 20% of any future profit from the sale.
The transfer has prompted fears over its impact on playing time for Enzo Fernández. Rogers’ move stems from Chelsea’s summer spending push under new ownership. The club is also monitoring Maxence Lacroix, Jonathan Rowe, Nicolas Jackson and Alejandro Garnacho.
Other clubs chasing reinforcements include Arsenal, which is looking at free-agent John Stones after William Saliba’s World Cup injury triggered a reshuffle in the defence staff.
