The eastbound lanes of State Route 16 on the Tacoma Narrows span shut down late Saturday night. Vehicles came to a halt after an alert went out. Officers redirected drivers on each end of the bridge. Teams started examining the structure right away. Authorities have not said why they closed it yet. Work crews have not said when the lanes will reopen.
