Microsoft today has cut thousands of jobs in its Xbox division and related projects and shut down several game studios across the globe. Reports say officially about half of the staff at id Software the classic game maker were impacted. The company also launched a $30 lifetime licence for Microsoft Office, sidestepping the $6.99 monthly subscription. It revealed a tool designed for reviving dead PCs without a local Windows copy. In a separate deal, Japanese carrier NYK Line partnered with Microsoft on a digital transformation project targeting efficiency gains. The moves indicate a shift toward artificial intelligence development as a core focus.
