Prime Minister Mark Carney has called snap federal byelections for three Canadian seats. Voters in Brantford-Brant, Ontario; Châteauguay-Lacolle, Quebec; and Esquimalt-Saanich-Sooke, British Columbia will go to the polls on August 31. Campaigning is already active, with national parties selecting candidates and finalising strategies. The Conservatives have vowed to demand federal probes on two key issues: construction oversight of the Gordie Howe bridge and Washington’s proposed tariff measures.
